ASCE New Public Education Guide
Levees are built near rivers and lakes to reduce flooding risk. Many live behind one – but do you know the risks and what precautions you should take?
The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) has released a new public education booklet: So, You Live Behind a Levee! They indicate that this booklet was created to help individuals and communities better protect themselves against future flood threats. Written for both the engineering and non-engineering public, it covers issues such as flood size and risk, signs of trouble, ways to reduce risk, and how to prepare for and respond to emergencies.
The booklet can be downloaded for free here: http://content.asce.org/ASCELeveeGuide.html
