Renewable Energy Training Program
Boots on the Roof is the Solar Energy training division of Unitek, a private school that provides certification-based and degree-based education programs in various technical and health care fields. Having partnered with professional organizations nationwide to train tens of thousands of students, Unitek opened the Boots on the Roof division specifically to train the next generation of Renewable Energy Contractors, Professional Engineers, Architects, Sales Professionals and Business Entrepreneurs.
For Contractors, their Solar PV & Solar Thermal Boot Camps cover design & installation topics for residential and small commercial solar electric and solar hot water projects. Entrepreneurs, Business Professionals and Sales Reps who will not be doing physical solar panel installation may want to take their Solar for Sales Reps class.
On their web site you can also sign up for their newsletter. Delivered via email, the newsletter reports on good news about the ever growing industry, ideas on how to tackle the new economic climate challenges of the day, and student success stories.
Also provided on the web site is a comprehensive table of “Requirements for Solar Installation & Incentives by State.” This table provides information in regard what is needed to legally install a solar system in each state, as well as what rebates or financial incentives may be available and if so, what system qualifications must be met. Of course, as with any compilation of this sort, they recommend contacting your state licensing board for official, up-to-date information.
