Search Provider

Starting with Internet Explorer 7, the Instant Search box provides an AutoComplete feature so users can search for similar search terms used in previous searches. Internet Explorer 7 also enables users to add multiple search providers. Search improvements in Internet Explorer 8 focus on helping users search by significantly improving the Instant Search box drop-down menu and supporting search suggestions.

Mozilla FireFox 3.0 also has similar features.

To be able to search TheProfessionalEngineer.com from your browser’s Instant Search box, visit TheProfessionalEngineer.com and then click on the drop-down menu key next to the Search button (it looks like a magnifying glass).  The “Search Options” key should be orange (this means it has detected a “Search Provider” on this web site).  You should then see a small “sun” icon by TheProfessionalEngineer.com in the drop-down menu.  You can use this option to search this site on a one-time basis.  If you click on “Add Search Providers” you will be given an opportunity to add TheProfessionalEngineer.com to your list of Search Providers, making access to professional engineering info even easier, wherever you are surfing!  (Internet Explorer 8 is shown below; Mozilla FireFox 3.0 is similar.)
