Free Exam Prep

Should I use free exam prep resources?

The short answer is YES! – but not exclusively.

FREE is always good, but free resources may not be enough, and they may not be accurate. If you are investing the time and money to pursue obtaining your professional engineering license, why not spend a bit more to get the study materials you need to be successful the first time you take the test. There are some useful free resources out there – such as these video reviews and this FE Exam review. But to be sure you have complete, comprehensive, and up-to-date study materials check out the commercial supplies of such resources such as noted here.  And look into taking a review course offered by a local college. The time and money spent might mean the difference between passing and “try again next time.”

You can download the FE Supplied-Reference Handbook from NCEES for free, but you will also probably want to purchase a reference manual and a practice exam for the FE / EIT exam.   Obtaining some “discipline-specific” review material would also be a good idea.  Likewise (and perhaps even more so) for the PE exam, reference manuals, sample problems, practice exams, and other study aids (flash cards, web-based reviews, etc.) are a good investment.

So the next question that may be asked is, “How much will I spend to get my professional engineering license?”
