Free Design Guide for Pervious Concrete

The Portland Cement Association is making available for a limited time (until March 31, 2008) a free download of an overview and guidebook entitled Hydrologic Design of Pervious Concrete.

From the description:

“This document describes the fundamental hydrologic behavior of pervious concrete pavement systems and demonstrates basic design methodologies appropriate for a variety of sites and circumstances.”

“This 72-page publication provides an overview and discussion of techniques which can be used for hydrological design, considering the inter-relationship between runoff characteristics, material characteristics, and site geometry. It also provides guidelines for the preliminary selection of appropriate pervious concrete characteristics for specific applications and environments.”

Overall this appears to be complete coverage of the topic - better than the relatively short articles I have seen to date on the subject (and it is free!).  Thus is should be of value to the professional engineer needing to know more about pervious concrete.

This document also describes the use of software that is NOT included with this free download.  That software is available by purchasing for $35 the Pervious Concrete: Hydrological Design and Resources (item #CD063)  from the PCA Bookstore.
