I have successfully used ” Calc98 ” for years on my Windows Mobile PDA to handle my engineering calculation needs.  While it is not the same as my older, full-featured dedicated calculator HP 48G, it provides everything needed for day-to-day use, and then some. Calc98 is freeware. You may use the software for a trial period of 90 days, and after that time they ask you to register the product, free of charge.

Calc98 is a Scientific/Engineering calculator program with units conversions, statistics, financial, array and matrix functions. It supports algebraic or RPN logic, and customizable size, fonts, layout and appearance. The time functions (including stopwatch) and Roman Numeral mode are unique and useful.

The free version is available for Windows and for Windows CE (mobile). It is claimed to run on Linux under Wine, the Windows compatibility layer for X and UNIX.
