FE/PE Test Pass Rates from 1997

I was going through some notes and found these PE / FE test scores from 10 years ago. It does seem that the pass rates have increased in recent years.

April 1997 FE exam statistics, as released by NCEES:

Of ALL FE examinees: 73% passed (of all first-time test-takers, 82% passed)

  • General PM exam: 73% passed. Of first-timers, 79% passed
  • Civil PM exam: 66% passed. Of first-timers, 80% passed
  • Mechanical PM exam: 82% passed. Of first-timers, 88% passed
  • Electrical PM exam: 73% passed. Of first-timers, 80% passed
  • Chemical PM exam: 86% passed. Of first-timers, 88% passed
  • Industrial PM exam: 71% passed. Of first-timers, 75% passed

The pass rates for the April 1997 PE exams are as follows:

  • Chemical: 51% passed; first-timers 61%
  • Civil: 66% passed; first-timers 75%
  • Electrical: 40% passed; first-timers 52%
  • Environmental: 55% passed; first-timers 59%
  • Mechanical: 27% passed; first-timers 36%
